Funny and heartwarming

This is a really quick but awesomely great book. An Unexpected Love was my first book by Claire Matthews and she has made a fan out of me with this book.
Lexi Watts is an investment analyst with a social life but absolutely no love life, all thanks to her overly demanding boss, Dan Yeager. She finds the Jack Brogan (the man of her dreams and fantasies) drunk, lonely, and available. She helps him home, and instead of helping him into the house and heading home she ends up in his bed with him. Holy smokes do they ever burn up his sheets, but she sneaks home in the middle of the night. She thinks this is gonna be her one night to remember and regret forever. Until the next night when Jack shows up at her door, and they end up burning the hell out of her sheets. They continue to burn up the sheets at both their houses, and she feels like something is just missing. One night she wakes up in his bed at midnight and realizes she misses her own bed, so she decides to walk the six blocks to the Charles Street station and take the subway home... Not the best of ideas on her part.. When she ends up hurt and mugged who comes to her rescue, not the guy she has been burning up the sheets with, but her demanding and bad tempered boss. She gets to see a side of him that opens her eyes to a whole new man. LAWD but if you thing the sex was burning sheets good with Jack.. Wait til you see how explosive the love making between her and Dan is!!! How's a girl to choose????
I enjoyed thoroughly enjoyed An Unexpected Love and will look for other titles by Ms. Matthews. I loved the complex characters and relationships she created. The banter between Lexi and Dan had me laughing out loud and there is a scene that had me wanting to hug both of them it touched my heart so much. This trip to HEA is a great ride!! I definitely recommend this one for a quick pick me up. It was the perfect book to read and lift my spirits after the reading the dark book I just finished. Check it out I think y'all will LOVE it!!

Not sure.....

I have read 100s of romance books and this one left a "sour taste in my mouth" I did not find there was any romance or feel good emotion between both guys the female character jumps into bed with...
**SPOILERS**
To quickly summarize girl, Lexxie, finds her fantasy man (I cannot even remember his name and I finished the book this AM) - in which she has been dreaming about for the past six years - in a bar after work. He is completely drunk and cannot even pronounce her name correctly. She makes sure that he gets home OK - on the taxi ride home they start kissing - which then leads to her going into his apartment with him - instead of just making sure he gets inside the door OK and getting back into the taxi to go to her own place.
He "convinces" her to sleep with him (it doesn't take much - even though he is so drunk) - she wakes up snoops around his apartment and then gets herself a cab to go home. - they start a "sex" relationship.
All along she has been working for another man - Dan - he has very unpredictable moods and is a workaholic. Lexxie never know who her day is going to go or how stressful it is going to be due to Dan's moods swings (great working environment). You find out that the reason for his mood swings is that he has been in love with Lexxie for 3 years.
One night Dan comes to Lexxie's rescue and now all of a sudden she is completely in love with Dan. This causes her to drop fantasy guy, to begin a relationship with Dan. When Dan comes back into the office after taking care of his mother, they begin their sexual relationship in the office - talk about romantic. I also believe from the time frame that their sexual relationship starts a day or two after she has sex for the last time with fantasy guy.
For me there was no emotions or chemistry between fantasy guy or even Dan - nothing - the sex scenes - where OK - there was no getting goose bumps - due to being able to feel what the characters are feeling.
I did finish the book but it is not one that I will not be picking up in the future to re-read.

This is the first book that I have read from Claire Matthews and I really liked it!!! She definitely has a fan in me and I will be looking for more from her. An Unexpected Love was such a quick, fun, sexy, and romantic read. I felt good after reading it. I loved Dan and Lexie together--they were so cute!! I just enjoyed everything about his book!! Had some great sex scenes as well as a great story with lovable characters. The ending was perfect!! 4 out of 5 rating.
