A book I couldn't put down!

Once, again, Melissa Schroeder has written a book that I lost sleep over. One of the things I loved about this one is that BOTH of the lead characters, male and female, are Marines. I haven't read many stories where the author gives us the military side of things from a woman's POV. In this case, she is the one with PTSD.

Dante Santini comes from a family of Marines and when he first meets Madison Baker his competitive side tells him to dislike this Marine that gives him a run for his money in most competitions. Dante and Madison, from outward appearances, are bitter enemies. It isn't until years later that Dante runs into Madison, again, and realizes his attraction to her. When her life is endangered because of something she sees, Dante's protective instincts kick in and his true feelings become more evident, to him anyway. He wants to protect her but knows that the Marine in her won't willingly ask for help.

Can Dante protect Madison? Can he convince her to let him protect her? Most importantly, can he convince her that she is not broken and is worthy of love?

I really loved this book, I feel in love with the Santini's from the very beginning of the first book..... I was so glad, to hear that Dante Santini got his own book.... You will fall in love with Him and Madison they are the perfect couple.. Sparks fly and there is action, this is a very good great you must get it...... I love all the books written by Ms. Schroeder, you will too, she is a great writer she hooks you with her books... I feel like the Santini's and the Johnson's are part of my family you will too..... There is just something special about how she writes her books. You will fall in love from the very first book and page....

I loved it and was surprised by the ending.Madison is Dante's twin sister Elena's best friend from the Academy where she and Dante were always one upping each other. When they meet again Madison is suffering PTSD and feels she is damaged but Dante has always seen something special in her.She witnesses a murder and runs to Dante however the police can find nothing & think due to her PTSD she made it up.What follows is a Santini falling for the Santini curse and a surprise murderer I never saw coming.I was hooked from the beginning and shocked at the end.You can never go wrong with a Santini book

Not for the faint hearted

This is a seminal study of sub Saharan African Oral tradition and when published was way ahead of its time. It is for those who have a genuine interest in what was going on in the African continent before the arrival of Europeans. It is a fascinating attempt to write a continental history based on oral traditions.

Cynthia Clumeck Muchnick, MA is an accomplished educator, author, and educational consultant. She worked as an Assistant Director of Admission for both the University of Chicago and the Illinois Institute of Technology, taught SAT prep for the Princeton Review, and was a high school history teacher. Currently, Cindy is an educational consultant, privately counseling 8th- through 12th-grade students. She assists students with class selection, study and writing skills, planning extracurricular/summer activities, test prep, and college admission. She presents seminars and workshops on high school and college success, writing college essays, the college application process, and study skills. Wish I had this when I was in school!

If you can only buy one book to help your high school or college student succeed, this is it. The author breaks everything down into digestible pieces of information and offers advice that is relevant and up to date. The writing style is conversational - not textbook-ish. Therefore, not only parents will love this book, but teens too.
I gave my 16 year old niece this book and she loves it - she sat on my bed reading it for almost an hour, sharing tips with me ("It says not to go to class hungry. Uh oh, I always do that") I think coming from her mom, she would have blown off the same advice. This example could be repeated in every chapter. The advice on being prepared, note taking, extra credit, tips for studying, and time management is invaluable. If the suggestions in the book are put into practice, it can literally the tipping point going from B's and C's to straight A's. And... kids will enjoy the process more.

Everything Guide: Highly Recommended

A terrific guide, essentially a semester long study skills course presented in one coherent package. I especially like the author's introductory note that "success is being the best student you in particular can be," even or especially if that means a B. I see students at all levels benefiting from the book. The author, clearly passionate about her subject matter, provides strategic advice about how to create productive relationships with teachers, manage time, read a text and take notes, test preparation and test taking skills, writing essays from start to finish (including research), and advice about clubs and volunteering and on-line learning. I found this to be a smart, all in one book that will improve students' abilities and performance. Having taught and advised for a lot of years, I highly recommend.

The 19 chapters contain all of the essentials needed to succeed in school. The first chapter, “School is Your Job,” explains how school is analogous to a workplace, reminding students that first impressions are lasting, and while “pleasing the boss,” is important, they must also be their own advocates. The detailed chapters on taking standardized tests and writing essays are especially relevant, and there’s even a section on the most common grammar and usage errors! From time management, to selecting the right classes, to strategically choosing a seat in the classroom, to note taking, this book is full of practical, common sense advice for the motivated (and not-so-motivated-but-needs-a-poke) learner!

Good read, not as good as the 1st book.

I expected so long this book to be released that I finished it in a few hours. First things first, this book needs some editing to be done. Now, let's get back to the task at hand. I really enjoyed to see how the story goes on but it lacked the dialogues between Trevor and Adriana from the first book which had made their chemistry so visible in the first place. I would have like to see them more together and interacting with each other. The suspense and the drama was there but to be honest I was expecting to be more brutal the war between the gangs. I am not disappointed by the book, but neither it took my breath away as the first one. I am really looking forward for the 3rd book because from the way Jordan aka The Judge appeared in both previous books I can tell that we will deal with a sarcastic, intriguing and complex character. Or at least I hope so;)

Mistaken identity --- kidnapping --- revenge --- murder --- false assumptions and misunderstandings...this second installment had it all and then some. Including improper use of linking verbs, helping verbs and prepositions...wrong characters linked to past history from book #1 (Krystal dies, not Tiffany)...and on it goes. In book #1, Adriana is described with chestnut-brown hair...now her hair is red in this second installment. I don't know about you, but I need a strong, solid visual in order to connect to characters. This second installment lacked that. Extremely fast paced and choppy...from Iowa, to Minnesota, to Hawaii. This second installment is all over the place and not just geographically. It's the "Hatfields-vs-McCoys" all over again. This storyline didn't flow well and could have easily been included in book #1. It wraps up so quickly that it left me feeling incomplete.

I loved the story. Can't wait for the Judge! I do think this book needs some editing. The names were messed up, using Krystal in place of Brandy, and other names were placed as other characters. Sort of confusing. Otherwise this book was a "Never Put Down". Read it in a short few hours.

Thomas R. Valletta is the director of the Curriculum Services Division, Seminaries and Institutes of Religion, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He heads a team of nine people who have been involved in this project over many years. He was the general editor of Book of Mormon for Latter-day Saint Families, Great American Documents for Latter-day Saint Families, and other scripture study books in that same series.

Perfect study guide to complement reading the Book of Mormon

I purchased this as a study help to accompany my reading of the Book of Mormon. I am only 35 pages in, but I am sold! I have learned more from reading those 35 pages than I have in the last 2 years of studying on my own and attending Sunday School. Most of the content is formatted in question/answer form, with the question being directed to a small selection of verses and the answer being a quote. The majority of the quotes are from church leaders, but there are also secular sources now and then.

If you enjoy studying the scriptures with a study guide, this book is packed with quotes and other information that will only strengthen your testimony of the church.

This is the most comprehensive Book of Mormon study guide available. Instead of telling you what certain verses mean, like those guide mentioned by other reviewers, this book provides evidence through scripture and prophetic quotes. It is a great companion book to use for personal study and a perfect aid for use during Gospel Doctrine and class discussion.

What I found most interesting was the eBook Version. This is the most comprehensive eBook that Deseret Book has released to date. The eBook includes an astounding 600 additional pages of material over the paper copy. When I read the scriptures on my iPad or iPhone, I find it extremely convenient to be able to quickly switch from scripture study to the eBook to read the commentary.

Unique and thought-provoking Book of Mormon Commentary

I received a copy of this for Christmas and love it. I purchased a second for my wife because we can't share. When I discovered that there was additional content on the DB electronic edition, I purchased that as well. I guess what I am saying is that I think I'm personally responsible for this book being #1 on the DB best seller list. The commentary is different from anything you would get anywhere else and I'm impressed with the questions and the charts inserted throughout the book. Well done!
