This book examines how the electrical and thermal properties of molten salts, and generally low vapour pressure, are well adapted to high temperature chemistry, enabling fast reaction rates. It also explains how their ability to dissolve many inorganic compounds such as oxides, nitrides, carbides and other salts make molten salts ideal as solvents in electrometallurgy, metal coating, treatment of by-products and energy conversion.

This book also reviews newer applications of molten salts including materials for energy storage such as carbon nano-particles for efficient super capacitors, high capacity molten salt batteries and for heat transport and storage in solar plants. In addition, owing to their high thermal stability, they are considered as ideal candidates for the development of safer nuclear reactors and for the treatment of nuclear waste, especially to separate actinides from lanthanides by electrorefining. 

Frédéric Lantelme developed the use of appropriate stable and radioactive isotope indicators to study the properties of ionic media oriented toward industrial applications (Aluminium, fluorine, refractory metals). He has actively participated to the pioneering work of numerical simulation of ionic media. He received the Pierre Süe award of the French Chemical Society.

Henri Groult is deeply involved in fundamental studies about the reaction mechanism of fluorine evolution in KF-2HF, this gas being used for the synthesis of UF6 which allows the uranium enrichment. He develops also original routes in molten salts for the preparation of compounds (carbon, Sn-based alloys…) which are used as electrode materials in Li-ion battery.

About the Author
Henri Groult is Director of Research of CNRS-UPMC-ESPCI UMR 7612, University of Pierre and Marie Curie (Paris 6) in France. He has devoted his research life to fluorine chemistry, electrochemistry, and molten salt chemistry. His main research subjects are electrolytic production of fluorine gas, fluorine compounds for primary and secondary lithium batteries, and electrochemical properties of molten fluorides and chlorides. He has obtained interesting results on fluorine evolution reaction on carbon electrodes, discharge behavior of carbon-fluorine compounds, charge/discharge characteristics of metal fluorides, and electrochemical properties of molten salts. On these subjects, he published more than 100 papers and 7 books. His activity has played an important role in fluorine chemistry in France. He has served as Director of the French Network of Fluorine, Chairman of the 17th European Symposium on Fluorine Chemistry (Paris, July 2013), and Editorial board of J. Fluorine Chemistry.

LODGE EVALUATES BIBLICAL (AND OTHER) DOCTRINES

Sir Oliver Joseph Lodge (1851-1940) was a British physicist, and a Christian Spiritualist who was a member of `The Ghost Club' and served as president of the London-based Society for Psychical Research from 1901 to 1903. After his son, Raymond, was killed in World War I in 1915, he visited several mediums and wrote about the experience in books such as Raymond Or Life and Death. He wrote other books such as Man and the universe,, survival of Man a Study, etc.

He wrote in the Preface to this 1910 book, "The converging influence of discoveries made during the nineteenth century in many diverse departments of knowledge has of late years notably increased the uncertainty which thoughtful persons have often felt about the ... Old Testament... Not has the difficulty been altogether confined to the oldest writings; it cannot be maintained that general conviction of the truth of the cardinal doctrines of the New Testament have remained quite unshaken... I conceive it to be my duty as well as my privilege to indicate to the best of my ability how matters stand... Part I of this book deals with the subject of incarnation in general... Part II furnishes hints for the effective treating of the Old Testament in light of the doctrine of Evolution. Part III is of the nature of an Apologia and anticipatory reply to critics. The work is not argumentative, it is expository... The position taken in this book is the result of a lifetime of scientific study."

He suggests, "The only service that can last through infinity is the Service that is perfect freedom... This is the ideal... Towards that we are intermittently, and with many falls, striving. Assisted? Yes, truly assisted---led but not forced, guided but not compelled. If we ask to be helped we are helped... helped by human beings sometimes, but helped also by other beings and in other ways---ways in which we hardly yet suspect. I believe this to be literally true." (Pg. 31)

He states, "In this age of Science, objective truth is our end and aim. But in order to achieve this end the aim has necessarily to be narrow. The human mind must take the Truth by stages: it cannot grasp everything at once; nor can any formula cover the whole truth. There is a truth of Science and a truth of Literature. To a narrow view they appear to conflict, but they are all parts of a larger whole." (Pg. 75)

He concludes, "Hence as a Physicist... I think it not inappropriate to reach beyond the range of the physical and demonstrable, to a region where experience gained in those departments of knowledge may be genuinely serviceable. And although strict and positive certainty is as yet unattainable... yet some approximation to the truth may be gradually made by utilising every indication and stretching our human faculties to the utmost." (Pg. 151)

Lodge's writings were "key" to the Psychical Research/Spiritualist movement; this particular book [more philosophical in nature] is perhaps of less interest than his other books, but may still be of interest to those studying this movement.

I have read this book and the only word I can come up with is AWESOME!.
The total PLF is revealed. Actually I found Jeff has revealed these stuffs in all of his free videos but I never could never figure them out.
